Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to visit my site!  Below you will find several examples of my previous projects which used interviews and unscripted moments to convey powerful messages.  If you have any questions, or would like to see more of my work, please feel free to contact me at bobbyrigg@gmail.com.

During Hurricane Harvey, most of us working at KHOU could only sit and watch as the city went underwater because we had lost our station to flooding the second day of the storm.  Most of my marketing team was working remotely, so together we scoured the web for press conferences involving Mayor Turner talking about damage, recovery efforts, etc.  From those press conferences, and using whatever footage we could gather from our news department's backup server, I pieced together this video so that the people of Houston would know we were still with them.

This shoot consisted of two interviews with b-roll between them.  The first interview with Leigh helped me to not only understand her story, but also to get a better grasp on what cancer victims like her go through.  Because of her clarity, we knew exactly what procedures and equipment we needed to shoot so that we would have enough coverage for both her and our second interview with Robin.  I love this story because of Leigh's optimism, and because I got to share in the victory of defeating cancer.

When Chick-Fil-A asked us to share the stories of several of their owner/operators, I jumped at the opportunity.  This fast food chain has always fascinated me because it's so different from its competitors.  I thoroughly enjoyed speaking to these owner/operators, learning more about how they helped their employees grow, and how the instilled their values of  honor, dignity, and respect.

Construction workers may not be the easiest to convince to open up on camera, but when they're passionate about something it makes the interview a lot easier.  I have traveled to several different cities talking to customers about their experience with CEMEX Go, and in the process I have not only learned what a difference the app is making for them, I have also learned a lot more about the construction industry as a whole.

While I did not personally conduct this interview, I was happy to have the opportunity to piece it together into a story.  This family is doing incredible things, changing lives while growing their business.  I love sharing stories like these because it helps bring more humanity to a business owners who up to this point may have only really been known as "those guys I see on TV."

When we started this project, our goal was to create messaging about the dangers of texting while driving that cut through the noise that we felt kids had grown numb to.  We asked parents to write letters to their children, and before they read the letter on camera I interviewed them to collect additional sound and also to help them feel more comfortable opening up on camera.  I interview several parents, and this was the most powerful one by far.  Chris is a parent who is still struggling to understand how he could have lost his son.  The interview was raw, real, and very difficult, and I can't express how proud I was when Chris contacted me after seeing the final product and thanked me for helping him share this story.

CEMEX is a huge company that employs thousands of Americans in fields ranging from laboratory scientists to ready-mix truck drivers.  For this project, I was provided with several hours of interviews from employees all over the country, and asked to assemble them into a story that conveyed CEMEX's company values.

When I sat down for this interview, I knew relatively little about Child Advocates and had only a handful of questions to start things off.  But Kathi was such a pleasure to talk to, and so passionate about her work, that we wound up with nearly an hour of material.  I produced several videos from our discussion, but to me this was the most powerful: an intimate story about a personal experience where she saw what an enormous impact this organization can have.

I did not conduct this interview, but the minute I saw the raw footage I knew this was a story I wanted to tell.  Music is such a powerful tool, it shaped my life, and I feel that Zeljko's story perfectly conveys what music can do.

Every year, KHOU partners with Wreaths Across America Houston for their annual wreath-laying ceremony at Houston National Cemetery.  Several years ago, I changed the approach for this campaign from a scripted one with our news personalities conveying the importance of the event, to one where we interviewed actual veterans who took part in the ceremony.  I'm proud to say that after the first year, the interview campaign became the norm.  It's an honor to meet these men and women and help the cause by sharing their stories.

Sometimes the most difficult people to interview are the ones who are used to doing the interviewing themselves.  Luckily, the KHOU 11 Weather Team was more than happy to peel back the curtain a little bit and share how much they depend on feedback and information from viewers to help them forecast and share the weather story of the day.

This video was created to promote an investigative series into the Houston Police Department's body camera program.  I was provided with hours of city council meetings, protests, some interviews, and actual body camera footage.  My goal was to convey all of the sides and show some of the confusion surrounding this complicated issue.  I'm proud to say that this video earned a Promax Gold award at the 2017 PromaxBDA Station Summit.
